SERDANG, 9 July – The Research Management Centre (RMC), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organised an online International Grant Application Sharing Session on 9 July 2026, aimed at providing UPM researchers with insights into the strategies and application processes for international research grants offered by Wellcome Trust.

The session, held from 9.00 am to 11.00 am, brought together UPM researchers interested in applying for research funding from Wellcome, a global research funding body that supports a wide range of health sciences and high-impact research.

The session featured Dr. Nur Hazlin binti Hazrin Chong from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), a recipient of the Wellcome International Grant, as the invited speaker. Through her sharing session, participants had the opportunity to gain first-hand insights from Dr. Nur Hazlin's actual experience throughout the process of applying for and successfully securing the grant.

During the session, Dr. Nur Hazlin shared a range of practical tips and personal experiences on the Wellcome grant application process, including strategies for developing a strong research proposal, evaluation criteria emphasised by Wellcome, as well as challenges and lessons learned throughout her application journey. The sharing session also included a question-and-answer segment, allowing participants to raise queries related to their respective research areas and grant application plans.

This initiative forms part of RMC UPM's ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of UPM researchers in exploring international research funding sources, in line with the university's aspiration to increase the number of international grants and expand global research collaboration networks.
