SERDANG, February - On 12 & 14, 18 February 2019, the Research Management Center (RMC), held a FRGS Proposal Writing Workshop 2019 located at Mini Auditorium 1, Vice Chancellor's Office (Research & Innovation) and at UPM Bintulu Campus, Sarawak. The workshop targeted participation from young and aspiring researchers applying for the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) 2019 which is currently open. The number of participants is limited to the first 90 participants per session.

The workshop was delivered by an experienced speaker, Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim Shaari from Faculty of Science, UPM. He served as the chair of the UPM evaluation panel from 2010 to 2016 and also served as the FRGS evaluation panel at the ministry level.

Director of RMC, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hamiruce Marhaban and Deputy Director of Research Grant, RMC, Prof. Dr. Shamsul Bahri Hj Mohd Tamrin also attended the workshop session at Serdang Campus. Meanwhile, for the workshop session at UPM Bintulu Campus, an RMC officer was assigned to accompany Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim.

The purpose of the workshop was to assist and guide researchers in producing quality proposals as well as strengthen the writing of proposals for FRGS applications. The scheme will encourage fundamental research to generate knowledge that can contribute to intellectual development, the creation of new technologies and the dynamic cultivation of culture in line with national aspirations.

We hope this FRGS proposal writing workshop will assist young researchers and other researchers who wish to apply and hope that the application will be successful once the decision is made.
