KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) bagged three gold, five silver medals and a special award at the 30th International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition 2019 (ITEX 2019) that was held from 3 to 4 May at at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC).
UPM submitted eight research projects under the Invention Competition category at the event which was also participated by other local and international universities, research agencies, higher education institutions, government agencies, companies and schools.
The gold medalists were Prof. Dr. Rosfarizan Mohamad (Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences), Prof. Dr. Nor Azah Yusof (Institute of Advanced Technology) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusran Sulaiman (Faculty of Science), while HomeDec Award - Best Invention Household Product Category Special Award was received by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janet Lim Hong Ngee from the Faculty of Science.
ITEX 2019 was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment & Climate Change (MESTECC), YB Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis, while the awards and medals were presented at Malam Budaya Cipta by the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS) President, Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Datuk Dr. Augustine Ong Soon Hock.
