Serdang, 8 July 2026 – The Research Management Centre (RMC), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was pleased to host a courtesy visit by the R&D and Innovation Unit, Strategic Planning Division (BPS), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) today, held at the Board Room, Level 5, Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), UPM, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The visit was attended by three (3) representatives from MARA, namely Puan Zarina binti Fauzi, Puan Mahera Hidayati binti Wan Bukhari, and Puan Fatmawati binti Mohd Yusof @ Ahmad.

The visit aimed to provide a practical overview of R&D ecosystem development at the organisational level, particularly in the areas of R&D frameworks, research governance, the establishment of Centres of Excellence (COE), as well as research clusters and focus areas implemented at UPM. Insights and experiences shared during the visit are expected to serve as an initial reference for MARA in strengthening preparations for its R&D Strategic Workshop, including the development of the MARA R&D Framework, R&D Roadmap, and Action Plan.

During the session, RMC UPM also shared a briefing on the functions of the Research Data Planning and Management Section, covering aspects such as research workflow planning and design, compliance monitoring under the University Research Management Information System (RMIS), research data management, and the development of research-related guidelines and policies at UPM.

The visit was the result of joint coordination and planning between RMC UPM and BPS MARA, and is hoped to serve as a valuable platform for sharing experiences and best practices, as well as further strengthening strategic collaboration between the two institutions moving forward.
