SERDANG, August 8 - Enago Academy in collaboration with the Research Management Centre (RMC), Universiti Putra Malaysia has organized an Author Workshop on Academic Writing and Publishing. The workshop was held on August 8, 2019 (Thursday) at the Auditorium Rashdan Baba, TNCPI Office Building. A total of 54 UPM staff, 281 UPM students and 14 from other institutions attended the workshop.
The workshop was started with a welcome speech by the Deputy Director of RMC, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Shukuri Mohamad Ali. The speaker invited by Enago was Dr. Richard de Grijs of Macquarie University, Australia, a renowned astrophysicist, editor, publishing consultant and public speaker. Till date, he has 300+ publications in established Physics and Astronomy journals and six published books to his name. The impact of his work is demonstrated by 5000+ citations that he has to his credit. His expertise is shared through two topics selected for the purpose of this workshop, ‘Identifying a Target Journal for Publication’ and ‘Dealing with Journal Rejection’. The question-and-answer session for each topic received overwhelming response from the participants. Ms. Nicole Arya, representative from Enago Academy, also gave a brief description of the services offered by Enago.
The goal of this writing workshop is to help researchers at different levels of work achieve success in publishing. This workshop educates authors on the importance of publishing in good journals, journal selection and the latest trends in the manuscript review process. Participants were also given guidance on how to handle reviewer reviews accordingly to increase the likelihood of manuscript received by journal.
